Autumnal Invocation

Fall, I have fallen for you.  This is my prayer to celebrate this triumphant occasion.  Oh, the bounties that thou hast provided this illustrious juncture lifts my heart and fills my soul with joy as I look upon thee and the blessings thou doth bring.  My cup runneth over, for the autumnal splendor that explodes upon me is more than I can contain.  I pray thee well, oh mother of nature, for thou hast provided us this season of thanks and giving.

My dear, glorious, beautiful division of periods set between the warmth of summer and chill of winter, thou hast brought me so many things for which I am grateful.  I want to thank thee openly - for the world to see, read, and hear.  I shout my gratitude to the heavens and feel it burning in my bossom.

Bountiful grace I extend to thee for the bringing of the football, for it fills my everlasting presence with a happiness unmeasurable by the accounting of man.  I thank thee for the oblong treasure that doth not bounce this way or that, but rather here and there.  Great cheerfulness doth the sounds of thudding and crashing bring to my hearing beyond hearing.

I thank thee not just for the football, although mostly for the football, but also for the outburst of color that graces my every waking moment from mid-September to early October.  Your oranges, reds, and yellows bedeck the purple mountains majesties of my never-ending horizons.  I am grateful and blessed by the cool mornings and soothing warm days, for thou art not too hot nor art thou too cold, for thy temperature is joyously moderate. Thou dost bring light into my eyes and prepare me for the dark and dreary days of winter.

Fear not dear mother of the natural world, I love thee in winter too, as thou dost bringest the glorious white in days of cold and darkness.  This fluffy white provides me with such pleasure in my traversing it on thin blades of laminated wood, carbon, Kevlar, fiberglass and other wonderous composite materials, but I divagate.  My admiration for winter will be upon my lips all too soon, my love.  However, directly, fall is for what I pronounce my affections.

Know that my love for thee is endless and that thine delicious fruits and vegetables that adorn my table at times of sup are welcome and enjoyed.  I so look forward to the Uggs and pumpkin spice lattes that will surely propagate across all of the chic social media renderings of the next few months.  My dear, dear autumn let thy love linger upon me and upon my brothers and sisters this September 23rd through December 21st.  Know that I welcome thee with open arms and an eye towards the future.

Amen.
